The 2025Annual Report

A Message from theChairperson & President

From Zach Klipa:
This year, I was honored to assume the role of Board Chairperson, following in the footsteps of my predecessor, Paul Healy. Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 was a year of meaningful progress and new opportunities for National Industries for the Blind, marked by important milestones worth celebrating. Average hourly wages for direct labor employees who are blind increased during the period. Additionally, 65 new product projects were launched, resulting in the addition of 205 Blind Work Years. In FY25, NIB created 206 new employment opportunities and supported the hiring or promotion of 532 individuals who are blind.

NIB saw growing national visibility for the work of our associated nonprofit agencies through NSITE, with stories appearing in prominent outlets such as International Business Weekly and USA Today. In addition, our annual Public Policy Forum was a resounding success, with Advocates from across the network conducting more than 120 meetings on Capitol Hill to engage directly with elected officials on issues critical to our mission. We also marked the 30th anniversary of the AbilityOne Base Supply Center Program, a testament to three decades of advancing employment and independence for people who are blind.

I proudly represented NIB on the global stage at the 2025 World Blindness Summit and World Blind Union General Assembly in São Paulo, Brazil.

While FY25 proved to be a successful year, we acknowledge that it was not without its challenges and FY26 will likely present a more challenging operating environment, especially since the government shutdown at the beginning of the year negatively impacted our associated nonprofit agencies and NIB.

On behalf of the entire NIB Board, I look forward to continuing our close partnership with Soraya and the NIB staff as we advance NIB’s mission in FY26.

Thank you for your continued dedication to National Industries for the Blind and to the people we serve.

From Soraya Correa:
While we continue to closely monitor how FY26 unfolds, I am deeply proud of the accomplishments National Industries for the Blind achieved in Fiscal Year 2025. Throughout the year, the organization demonstrated agility and resilience, successfully aligning our work with evolving federal priorities, restructuring internally to drive greater efficiency, and strengthening stakeholder engagement through regular Town Halls and leadership meetings.
